Recharging the Freshwater Coastal Aquifer of Sidi Kirayr Area Using Sustainable Infiltration Trenches

چکیده

Egypt is considered an arid country and depends mainly on the Nile River groundwater reservoirs to supply water for drinking various uses. The northwestern coastal zone one of regions that rely heavily rainwater irrigation. As a result changes in climate rise sea level, increase seawater intrusion growing. Furthermore, exploitation increased pumping some wells installed this area have negative impact amount region’s subterranean reservoirs. One approaches suggested managing freshwater lenses floating top from saltwater region recharge aquifer with fresh water. This can be done either by injection or use mounds, i.e., infiltration trenches. Due expected higher cost operation wells, it interesting study through mounds. Studies been carried out past Sidi Kirayr terms recording table levels rainfall before after rainy season. However, we propose using environmentally sustainable economic solution underground instead letting run off into sea. In respect, trench designed area. Two design types are proposed, geometrical calculations appropriate dimensions. trenches north south asphalt road Kirayr, providing recharged surplus when being available other sources.

Freshwater-saltwater motion in a coastal karstic aquifer -

The case study of the brackish spring of "Almyros of Heraklio" in Crete (Greece) and its vast carbonate coastal aquifer is presented, showing the consequence of preferential flows of continental fresh water and saline sea water in karst galleries in a coastal area. Flow heterogeneity generates unexpected upconing in boreholes, and permits the spring of Almyros not to be directly connected with ...

Sustainable groundwater management of the stressed Coastal aquifer in the Gaza region

This study proposes an empirical approach that can lead to the sustainable management of groundwater resources. This approach enables a comprehensive understanding of an aquifer, delineates distinct hydrological scenarios, and recommends a set of operational activities for each sub-region of the aquifer. The paper focuses on the Coastal aquifer of the Gaza Strip region which has been divided in...

assessment of the efficiency of s.p.g.c refineries using network dea

data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...

A simplified approach for the design of infiltration trenches.

The use of infiltration trenches has proven to be useful to reduce runoff in urban surfaces. The design of these structures is based on the continuity equation taking into account inflow, outflow and detention water volumes. Basic procedures evaluate entering flow rates and relative volumes directly as a function of rain event characteristics, without taking into account rain-runoff processes o...
